Default Ring and pinion gear

I have 3.73 gears in my car and i am going to put 3.27 to get better mileage and highway use since i havent been racing much lately. Most places i have called have wanted at least $300 just to install. I dont know exactly what all is involved but this seems pretty high. Is that really a decent price or do you think i can find better? I live in central cal. if anybody knows anywhere to go, or if anybody in central cal. would be willing to help i will pay you $100. I live on a navy base and have access to a auto hobby shop with lifts, so we could do it there to make it easier. If anybody has any advice or would be willing to help i would really appreciate it!!!

$300 is about right. Also, going from 3.73 to 3.27's, you probably won't see much difference in gas mileage. I'd look at getting a OD gear from a Z-spec T5 or something along those lines (or from G-force). Then you still have your gear when you want it, but your hwy driving won't kill your wallet.

unfortunately right now i have an aod so i cant change the od gear in it very easily. another reason i am putting the 3.27 in there is because later this fall i am going to do the 460/c6 swap and 3.27 gear will be plenty with 500 ft/lbs.
