Default aluminum head retorque......

On the Afr 165s it "recommends" that you retorque the heads 2-3 hours after start up and cool down. Those of you who have aluminum heads do you actually need to retorque them? That seems like a bunch more work which sucks.... On a carb car it wouldn't be a big deal but on a EFI car its at least a couple more hours of work.....

I went back and retorqued my iron a heads after a few hours of running. But they were all still at spec, none of my headbolts came loose at all. I would definentally go back and retorque though.

Dontknow about heads, but I know aluminum wheels are supposed to be retorqued after driving on them a bit.

According to the instructions that came with my GT40X heads (yes, the aluminum ones) if you're using the head bolts that have washers, you need to retorque them. If you're using the bolts with the serrated flange, you don't.

haha well I know that lame header bolts always have to retightened, but retorqueing the heads is really lame. Because you got to take off the whole air intake, the upper manifold, spark plugs, valve covers, and the headers....

All that I had to do to re-torque mine was remove the upper manifold and the valve covers. It's not that hard to get in there to re-torque them.
