Default clutch rubbing on bell housing

I put in a 351w in my 83 GT. The car originally had a T5 with a 10 inch clutch on the stock 302. I installed a new 351W motor and ordered a King Cobra clutch kit and correct 28oz flywheel. I was told the the 10.5" king cobra clutch should work fine with my stock bellhousing and transmission but it appear that the pressure plate is rubbing on the bellhousing (see Picture). When I started the car I heard a noise at the rear of the engine but I thought it was the throwout bearing making noise since it would go away if you pressed on the clutch pedal. If I would have known I was chewing up the bellhousing I would have shut down the car immediatly but the aluminum bellhousing is so soft it wasn’t making noise and we only had a partial exhaust on the car. Have any of you ever heard of this or seen this before? Did Ford change the shape of the bellhousing in 86 when they went to the 10.5" cluch? I am at a loss as to what could have happened. Is this clutch a tight fit? Any thoughts appreciated.

wow that's kinda crazy. i just had mine apart to put in a king cobra and noticed i had some of the same markings on my bellhousing. i didn't worry about it though since previous clutch wasnt making any noise. could it be that the dowels in the block and/or the flywheel dowels are bad? oh by the way, i love my king cobra clutch

ya guys we have the same problem.. we just did a auto - t-5 swap. in a stock 5.0 1990 gt..making a hell of a noise and i seen markings on teh clutch were it was pretty scared up.. the noise was a real loud knock.. and the bellhousing is off of a 88gt 302. so i dont think the bellhousings are differnt.. and my clutch is a brand new king cobra but my flywheel was just turnd also. the clutch is a 10.5inch.. i dont understand why it would rub like this. Also the clutch pedal pretty much dosnt work becuase i guess the clutch is being screwed with in the bellhousing hitting.
