Come on now! I don't get the link either... That is somewhat irritating. But anyway... for those that say Torque is more important than HP for drag racing, go out to the strip and shift at your peak tq instead of peak hp and see what happens to your e/t.

Vic
but what is important about torque is that a car accelerates along it's torque curve. also without torque there is no such thing as horsepower.

if this is true than why is it hte 196-98 cobras are so slow, they have a wierd torque band making it essentially after 330 rpms. I can still c this as true b/c if u look at a 5.0 vs. an ls1 the 5.0 w/ slicks and the ls1 w/ slicks, the 5.0 will win through the first 3000 rpms but after that its toast. so i guess this article it true

thanks twisted
it was interesting

torque is in fact more important... if u would listen we wasnt sayin go shift at you max torque... he was sayin torquw plays a bigger part inspeed than hp does and if u have taking any physics classes u would agree.... hell he even told u torque creates hp and his rite... thing about it the longer u can keep your torque curve up the longer u will pull hard... if u hit peak torque at 2k and it drop off a lot right after but u had max hp at 6k do u really think that car would be remotely fast?? hell no it woudnt... it would also be about to create a car with those specs... im not telling u to shift at you max torque but shifting at you max hp isnt a good idea either... u wanna **** at the point were your torque as stop so much its not doing u ne good to take it to high rpms... max since?? its all rambling so it might be unorganized... only reason i even understand if cuz my physics teacher drilled **** like this into my head last year in highschool and actually im glad she did... but yea.... just my .02

Yeah, I had been curious about the relationship between torque and hp for a long time. Now I have some idea of how it works.
