my temp gauge has crapped out in my 87 GT and i want to get a new gauge cluster. a buddy of mine has a cluster with a 140 speedo in it but isnt sure it will work for my car because this one is out of an 91. will all the gauges work in my 87?and does anyone know how much they are going for right now? a complete stock gauge cluster with the 140 speedo.and if anything, do you guys know if i can take the temp gauge out of it and put it in my cluster? I would just buy a set of some autometer gauges and put em below your stereo reciever and just not look at your stock temp gauge. Something like Oil press., temp, and volts. I got my 140 speedo cluster for like 75 bucks I think. That was over a year ago tho.

a cluster fom a 90+ wont fit. 87-89 are different styles(mounting spots are different, as well as a few dimensional curves)

you can take the electrical piece that controls the gauge and swap them, yes, but be careful to preserve the needle position. you will have to remove the needle to get the mechanism out.

Why would you bother with it? Buy an aftermarket gauge.

If you're wantin the different speedo then just buy an entire cluster that has a 140. As long as you get it out of an 87-89 mustang everything will work fine. Here's a pic of mine, its an 88 mustang and i got the cluster for $100 from an 89.
