Default piston to valve clearance

I am wondering if anybody here knows if there are any piston to valve clearance issues using a e303 cam and 1.7 or 1.72 rocker arms with stock pistons.

max valve lift the stock pistons will work with is .544, add .020 to your cam's spec lift with those rockers.

stock block is good for about 400-500 WHP depending on how the power is made

You can't just add .020 or .030 for 1.7 rockers. It's a ratio. .498 / 1.6 = 311.25. The lobe life is .311. So, 311 x 1.7 = .5287 lift, .311 x 1.72 = .53492 lift.

You also can't just say .544 is max. It's all about valve timing. I've ran more than .544 on both intake and exhaust sides with a stock shortblock.
