Default Blow by?? need opinions

My car is a 94 GT with a Procharger. I run about 8psi. Mostly stock motor. The motor just rolled over to 100k. The Procharger has been on there for the last 60k miles. Here is my problem after getting on it for awhile I notice oil burning to the point smoke was coming from under my hood. I stopped and looked and it was coming from where the dipstick enters the oil pan. At this point I pretty much know the problem. I get back in the car to drive home and notice the oil pressure gauge is almost pegged out. I am thinking my compression rings are fried. Guess I will be looking into rebuilding.

I don't know what's causing you to burn oil, but don't think that your pistons rings are bad because your oil pressure is not what it should be. The two are not related. You'll need to run a compression and leakdown test to know for sure.

The oil burning was oil coming out from where the dipstick goes. You know cause the pressure inside the crankcase got so high it pushed the dipstick out.

Gotcha. You very well may have some blowby that is pressurizing your crankcase. Did you by any chance just change your oil? If so, did you put the correct amount back into the motor? How long has this problem been happening.

I have recent;y changed the oil and filter I drained both plugs and put back in 5 quarts. I noticed it a little before I changed the oil. When I checked it before i changed it the oil smelled like gas a little and was a quart low. The car has been well taken care of as far as oil changes and such but she has been drove hard.

I would definalty check you pcv valve, it is a common problem on factory turbo cars (my eagle talon used to actually blow my dipstick right out) but if you have blow by you probably have already damaged your rings and might still need a re-build, in my experience anyways
