If you get a valve body you wont need a shift kit. You can get a regular valve body which will act like the one you have now just with crisper, firmer shifts OR you can go with a manual valve body. Which will let you manually hold each gear before shifting. But you will have to shift it all the time.

Yes, I know that but if you get a nice aftermarket valve body there is no reason for a shift kit. Talk to any distributer and they will tell you that.

your friends are idiots. a shift kit will actually make your tranny last longer. the reason for this is because the shift kit will cause the clutches to get more oil which means they will run cooler and slip less. a tranny cooler will make your transmission last longer too. edge racing makes a great converter and with 4.10's your mustang will be a beast

Well scratch the manual valve body, if I wanted to shift everytime I woulda just gotten a stick.

But just so I understand correctly, if I get a good aftermarket valve body I will not need a shift kit correct? Would a shift kit even make a difference if I installed one?

Thanks for everyone who's been replying trying to help me figure this out, I just got a little confused with all the different comments.

Yes, you would feel a difference with a shift kit. Also, they make different style valve bodies, you dont have to get a manual VB. I would suggest calling up Lentech and talking to those guys, they will explain everything and show you what you need.
