Default 18x12

Hey there

Can anyone tell me if it would be wise or benificial to the handling of my 90 LX 5.0to put on 18" wheels 12" wide front and rear? I know that the more contact patch on the groundthere is the better the traction but will the steering (power assisted steering) be able to handle it? lol

Oh and yes fitting them will be like trying to splitan atom i know but this bothers me not, just need to know about the handling.

Thanks a bundle lads (and ladets).

18x12 won't even come close to fitting, front or rear.

I had 18x12's on the rear of my 94. I needed spacers, and I had to delete the quad shocks. They deffinitley will not fit on the front. I would go with 18x9 and 18x10. Thats what I have now and its much cheaper for tires and looks great too...

18x12s will fit on the rear only if you mini tub it. And you are lucky to fit 18x9s up front with out it rubbing.

I've seen Mustangs handle real well with 275 tires. How wide are you looking to go. What are you looking to do with the setup? Autocross or road race?

The added weight might hinder the steering and acceleration. I've seen 17x9" wheels weight as little 20 lbs for a reasonable price. Any lighter and your talking about over $300 a piece. I have a set of 18x9.5 that weigh 18 lbs. each for my Grand Marquis but they weren't cheap.
