Yeah, i have a stock cam, and 1.7 RR's, so i was told that thats combo will make the stock cam like a B303, i was wondering how true? And i have heard thatthe Bcam is a flop?, but my car runs smooth and good power, and also would that hurt the computer when running a speed density system?,cuz it doesnt seem to cause any problems.i dont know the lobe center or what the vaccum is(stock is 115).
cam specs for FRPP B303-
1985-95 302 with Roller Tappet Cam
(1)(2)
Hydraulic Roller Tappet
Max torque3300
Max BHP 5100
Duration 284°
Duration 284°
LIft Intake 0.480"
Lift Exaust 0.480"
so 0.473 isnt that far from .480(b303) and .498(e303). looks to me that .473 is closer to .480. so i would think that its closer to a B cam-(lift wise) than it is an E, i dont know about the duration, but itsseems to becloser to a b303-as for lift.Any others thoughts are welcome

The stock cam is closer to an E cam than a B cam when comparing duration. You'll notice the duration difference before you'll notice the difference in lift.

Who cares anyway? They're all junk.

Cam duration is not affected by the rockers, the cam lobes are not "modified" in any way.....stock cam lift with 1.6R's = .444"...with 1.7 = .472"........if your engine is a '86-'88 it would have 266° Int/266° Exh........'89+ is 276° Int/266° Exh.

SD "friendly" cams are limited and it doesn't mean they will run like stock, they usually will run on the rich side due to the impact in engine vacuum production @idle and part throttle...........

I always thought the duration might be slightly more with a 1.7 rocker just b/c of the fact that if the valve has to open farther, it seems to me like the duration would have to be a little more. [sm=feedback.gif]

You're asuming that the valve must open and close at the same rate. Only then would it need more time to reach a higher lift. If you open and close the valve faster, you can reach a higher lift in the same time.
