you know putting a magnet on the oil filter is cheaper..also use 1 on the bottom of the oil pan and oil plugs as well

yah but this thing is beefy. weighs like 3 pounds. oil actually goes through it instead of waiting for the oil to come in contact with a magnet.

when putting a magnet on the bottom of the pan, what method do you use to ensure it all (debris) will come out when draining, i wanted to do that but was worried about effectively getting any shavings, etc out without it just sitting at the bottom and running thru again after the change

you can buy drain plugs with magnet tips, but like i said, the metal must be close enough for the magnet to work. with the filter magnet i have, you have the oil being pumped through the magnet, affectively removing metal from the pressurized oil

wouldn't it be trapped in the filter infront of the magnet to secure it?...when you get an old one would you send it to me I'd like to cut one open to look at it

cool, ill have to try this when i do my next change. would "cranking" it over once also push the stuff at the bottom better or no. cause in my 01 mustang i would turn it over to make sure all the oil was out, by turn it over, i dont mean started, as im sure you know what i am trying to explain in a million words.

no, it screws onto the filter adapter on the block, and the SSP filter screws onto it.
