Default Warm Start-up

First off, new member here, hi guys! i'll get pics up later.

Ok, I have a 89 LX coupe, just had the engine rebuilt after 130k miles. OK, in the morning when i start it up, fires right up at the flick of the key. but if i'm driving around and stop somewhere and get back in the car after like 5 - 10 minutes it cranks over really slow and it might start up sometimes. I just replaced the battery last week because mine was junk and couldnt even crank it over. I have about 100 miles on the fresh motor. Is it just because i'm still breaking it in??

also i put new headers and x pipe on. the x pipe was like 2 inches shorter than the stock H pipe and i had to cut the tails off at the muffler otherwise it would have been under my bumper and melted it, so its aimed straight back at the muffler, i dont have turn downs on it yet, will that be a problem or do i need new tails or turn downs ASAP?

This is fine, i ran my mufflers like this for a few months. Just eventually get turn downs... it really quiets the car down and reduces in car fumes. As for your starting problem, what does you voltage gauge read when this happens?

It reads at about a quarter of the way up the gauge, when running it stays at half. turn it off and then check it right away, right at about a quarter

Hmm sounds like your alternator is ok. How old is the starter? It might be vulnerable to the heat coming for your exhaust.

Sounds like a starter problem it might b getting heat soaked from your headers.I had a similiar problem on my 87 GT after i put headers on it but they were long tubes. I would take the starter off and have it check out first but if it checks out ok i would get a starter heat shield of some sort from like jegs or summit

Large injectors can have this impact as well.
24's should be ok, but much bigger seems to be questionable.

The problem is that the fuel tables in the OL, need to be adjusted for the larger injector.

May or may not be your problem, just something I have seen happen in other threads...
