1979 Mustang
Looking for opinions:
What would be a good offer for a 1979 Mustang with no engine? The engine was removed 15 years agoand has been stored in the garage since engine removal. Vehicle is pumpkin orange and was a 4 cylinder, fun times right? It has a four speed but you can imagine what condition a typical used 1979 mustang that hasn't had an engine for 15 years is in. Quartes are clean, hatch and doors have slight rust, good condition.
Any ideas, thanks!

I wouldn't pay more then 500. If your doing a v8 swap tranny and rear end are also going to have to be swapped. Alsothe rust is going to take that value down. More then likely the car isn't really even worth 500.

Sorry. No pics yet.I will see whatI cando. Ijust got a word from a co-worker about it. Besides, unless I had several pics of the whole thing (underbody, interior, the whole nine) you would be basing your suggestion on a potentially misleading picture. Not trying to be argumentative....... but I guess I should have mentioned that a ballpark figure is what I was looking for.....and found for that matter, so THANKS! (I offered $300 )

RE: 1979 Mustang
shoot i would of offered $200 bucks. i got my car with no engine or tranny, already primered up ready to be painted, with zero rust. no rust anywhere! the guy offered to sell me some interior stuff but i declined as i am goin with the black stuff. bought mine for $450, but he was asking $600. when the cash is really there people talk different then on the phone or whatever.

RE: 1979 Mustang
79's are cool cars. Try to find the door handle when youre sitting inside with the door closed[8D]. Anyway, with the 79 you wont really have to change the rear end. Youll have to beef it up, detroit or auburn locker and a girdle. It should handle 11's all day. Another MUST is torque box reinforcments. They WILL rip off of the car if you do not reinforce them. Trust me Ive done it, on a CLEAN 79 5.0L. And if its only surface rust I wouldnt really worry about it, itll clean right up. The thing you have to worry about most is the seams at teh bottom of the doors and hatch. 200-300 is a reasonable offer.

RE: 1979 Mustang
Thanks P Zero. I am assuming that you are telling me that all 79's have an 8.8 axle? The rust is light and i am not to worried about it. I have an engine and trans with narness and computer as a donor. I am going for all go and no show for a low price, I could probably get this rig together and running for under 1000 espescially if I do not need a new rear axle.
By girdle you mean the replacement cover correct?
By torque boxes you mean the area of the rear of the vehicle that is used commonly for a jacking point and where the control arm is mounted to the body correct?
