my car, stock, runs 136mph at about 5500 in 4th gear

yah, stock these cars top out abuot 130, and even that takes a little while. i recently did this on a local straightaway here(RT83). 4000rpm in 4th, i was doin 100-105

extra hp wont make you go faster if your limited by gears..... I ran 136mph on the dyno when doing my pulls, and the car can EASLIY attain 140mph on the highway... with no bottle

RE: hard question maybe no answer
well about the brakes i have the 5 lug conversion with a 4 wheel disc brake conversion so no problem there...well i thought with a 2.76 it would do mus\ch with max speed i thought that a gear that high that high speed is when it came into effect

RE: hard question maybe no answer
Real simple calculation. I am assuming no transmission or tire slippage. With a 2.73 rear gear, at 4500 in 4th gear, here are the speeds for various tire sizes:
25" tire - 122.6 mph
26" tire - 127.5 mph
27" tire - 132.4 mph
If you have a different rear gear, the numbers can change drastically. Hope this helps.

RE: hard question maybe no answer
what about aero dynamics? does that play a role, into your calculation?
Yes and No.
The short answer is no
1. the engine turns at a certain rpm (input to tranny)
2. the driveshaftturns at a certain rpm, depending on what gear the caris in
3. the axles/wheels spin at a certain rpm, depending on the rear gear ratio
As long as the transmission, rearend and tires are not slipping, there are no other factors.
However, especially at high speeds, there is a good deal of slippage throughout the system. A number of things affect this, including aerodynamics.
