Default Rebuild or new?

I have asked once before and didn't get too many responds. Anyhow I want to know whether I should buy a new rebuilt 306 engine with e303 for $1200, or a good rebuild kit (I have two blocks laying around), might just rebuild both engine at once. If you think I should go rebuild let me know what brand and where to get it... PLEASE HELP!

That price sounds pretty good for a new 306 with an e cam to me.

id say do it yourself.. the kit from summit is only about 300 bux, and its a sealed power fel pro kit. at least you know it will be brand new, and cheaper

Honestly I want to get to 300-350hp, but want to spend under $1500. I want to either buy this bored one, or rebuild mine or find a good bored/stroked. Can I rebuild mine to make that much HP for less then getting that other one (probably gonna cost that much for some one to bore it out then to get the ebay one.) I am going to be putting TW aluminum heads and a GT40 intake on the engine too. There is a guy a few miles from me selling a 302 stroked to 347 for $850 right now, but it is in his 74 Bronco and wasn't sure if I would be able to EFI that and not sure if correct firing order. Ideally I just want a good running motor back in my mustang since it isn't running right now.

well I'm not sure where you live..but I guy I know builds low cost engines...he's in MD and advertises on e-bay all the time(summerduck)
1500 is a small budget for 300 @ the wheel..doesn't mean it can't be done..I have done it but I got a ton of crap here..if you have rods and stuff there would help the cost..in just adding some apr rod bolts....I think joel (joel5.0)can hook you up with a rotating assy for a decent price..tell him I sent ya

I see these kits on summit, when it says piston and right oversize: .030, that translates to a 306 correct? I am pretty weak on knowled of internals of engines past the heads. Will I need to get it machined, how much does that cost. I want to do everything right, machine, balance and all but I'd imagine that it would make the price more then the one I can get off ebay.
