Default Speed Density.............

88 GT vert. Getting ready to do H/C/I or carb, haven't decided yet. I went w/ mass airflow with the last SD I had built, but could never get it running quite right. Was always running extremely rich and had idling probs. WOT was amazing, but besides that it was an aggravation. It had all the bolt ons. Anyways thought about trying to build this w/ sd. Has anyone tried using a vacuum pump to offset the lack of? Just trying to find a way to trick the map sensor. (From what I understand that's what the real prob is w/ sd, but then I have been wrong many times!) Just don't want to go through the probs I had with the last. That's wht I was thinking about just going w/ a carb setup.

yah its related to the MAP, because alot of aftermarket cams create much less vacuum then stock, it screws it all up. it must be tuned professionally, or if you got the grapes to try it yourself, buy a Tweecer.

"tricking" the map sensor isnt really all that hard, You can use a restriction in the hose that runs to the MAP to smooth out the "pulses" that a long duration cam would make, you can also use a small carb fuel filter in the line to help dampen the pulses... HOWEVER, If you wanna stick with speed density, I would recommend a system like Megasquirt.

I'll be running it in my car if I ever get around to building my interconnect harness

Would rather go with maf, but just don't want the headaches of the last time around. Thought about putting it up for trade for a 90-93 b/c of it.

Had the last one scanned several times by a ASE Master tech that taught for a local school, never threw out any codes.

IAC's don't throw codes half the time. IAC won't make it run rich though. hard to say without more info on its behavior. convert it MAF again man, i'll guarantee you, it will run right.
