RE: My Stang won't start!! (Almost There)
Well, I have come to realize that I cant get this problem fixed.
I had it towed to a Ford Dealership for diagnosis/resoultion.
I am bending over now to take my punishment, as they will stick it to me good.

depending on what year your car is,you may not have a vacuum line going to your map sensor.Only speed density cars have a vacuum line going there.

OK, so Ford just called with the damage report. Turns out there were multiple codes showing up in the computer diagnosis. MAP sensor, and the MAF were amongst them, but the underlying problem (which cause the other codes) is no spark in the distributor. Ford states that the 'stator' and 'thick film ignition module' need replaced. THese are located inside the distributor. Is this something that I can do? Or is it tricky becuase the distributor needs to be put back together a specific way for timing issues. Ford wants $375 for parts and labor, and I guess another $68 for diagnosis, plus tax. So I am looking at aroung $500 to get it fixed.
Is this a 'common' thing to go wrong? Any ideas on what or why it happend??

Yes I did look at the vacuum tree. It looked fine.
Yes, my 93 has a mass air flow system, so the MAP sensor (which is actually the BAP sensor) does not have a vacuum line connected to it.
Final diagnosis is, the Strator and module inside the distributor. Total cost is $375 for EVERYTHING.
I am going to have them check the TPS to make sure it is 'set' properly.
I also asked them to remove the broken EGR valve and put on the new EGR valve (required for emissions)
So for about $400, my car will be better.
Just as an FYI.... When it was running if I was to 'get on it' in 2nd or 3rd gear it was just crap out. Ford said it was probably the Strator that was causing the hesitation. So now my car should 'get off the pot and go'

that TFI module is the only thing that every failed on my Stang and the car just died period and wouldn't start at all. Cost me about the same as they are quoting you too. you could have changed the EGR valve yourself though, only two bolts holding it on and one electric plug and one vacuum line connected to it.
