RE: beat a 05 gt
yeah, just be sure to go 4v, cause i've seen you on the 4.6 forum a few times so you should know by now 2v engines won't get you too far for power [&:], but i remember you saying bout going 96-98 cobra so that'd be good right there.

it's an aftermarket 302 based 4 bolt main block...it was made by svo (ford) and was fairly recently replaced by the r302 although the a4 is consideredstronger by most and with better cooling properties. it's just about impossible to still find one new and they still go used for 1500+ bare so you see more r's and darts. if you want to make big power reliably with a 302 based combo it's either a A4, R302, Dart block

also again you said your impressed your impressed about the modular block...again i'll say it's so much more expensive to build it'll easily outweigh the cost of having to buy an aftermarket block. i agree about the gas mileagewith the mods.i still say over 1000hp on a stock mod block is rediculous and just for advertising (like you see turbo companies advertising rediculous power levels on stock engines because they only have to do it for one pull on the dyno not last on the street etc). also some people consider a cai, full exhaust, etc still stockso what they're calling a stock block probably at least has a lot of supports like a girdle andengine block filler (cement based...no i'm not kidding it strengthens the cylinder walls)
before someone asks i'll put this link up to a thread that has a tiny summary of the mods, a few pics, and a copy of the dyno sheet...don't bother to look read past the first page

pump gas (spraying meth but not tuning for it...just extra cooling) about 725whp @ 17psi only 18* total timing on a 92* summer day with 100% humidity. that would beraining and the worst possible day for big #'s but i would have had to wait a while for another appt. plus i just wanted a safe tune so i could drive it not win a dyno contest. my dyno sheet says 694whp but this was only running to 5500rpms because of an issue. it has been fixed and now revs to the full 6200rpms so my tuner figured it'd make 725+/- 5 on that same hot day. on a cold/less humid day it would easily make 775-800whp on the same pump gas tune. this is on a mustang dyno known as "The Heartbreaker" since it puts out very low #'s compared to the local dynojeti'm moreworried about performance andyou get a better/more reliable tune because of the loading properites/parameters and of course thetuner who is well known. many people have picked up a half sec in the quarter just switching to frank's tune(mustang dyno) eventhough they made 50+whp less than on the local dynojet

RE: beat a 05 gt
The plastic intake on the 00 back intakes were junk. They had a problem with the thermostat housing busting and leaking. After that was fixed they didn't have many problem with the intake. Also, there is an aluminum Bullitt intake for the cars if you don't like plastic.
As far as power, a fox body is so light, it feels like you are riding in an aluminum can, and they feel like they're fast even if they're not. I like foxs, sn95's, and the new edges. They all run good for no more motor than they have. The new s197's are impressive because they seem to respond to mods better than the 2v's. I know a guy that has an 06 with et streets and control arms, 4.10's and a tune that ran a 12.6 at mustang nationals. That was pretty impressive to me and still get 20 mpg. That's my input

RE: beat a 05 gt
And to pile it on, the 03-04 cobra's with exhaust and pullies will give a modded 5.0 a run for its money...They have so much potential. They are crazy fast to be a stock car, and they respond to mods very well also. Not all 4.6's are junk. And actually, a cobra 4.6 is one cubic inch smaller than a gt, it's just a 280.
