Default Pinstripe Removal

Hey i have the stock pinstripe on my 89 notch. is above or below the clear? and i heard oven cleaner will work? any other suggestions.

should be over the clearcoat, i've used a pinstripe eraser that mounts to ant 3/8 drill works perfect and wont harm the finish. i think you can only get it at body shop supply stores.i wouldnt try oven cleaner tho.

It is a PAIN IN THE ASSSSSSSSSSS.
I had to sand on the pinstripe more then i did the actual paint....
and i will nver put another pinstripe on my car!

Usually pinstriping (unless painted on) is put on after the clearcoat b/c its just vynal, with a little heat it should peel right off. However I was told 89 Mustangs didnt have clearcoat, anyone know if thats true?

i concur, worked at a sign/vinyl/graphics shop as akid and i used to use the pinstripe eraser all the time, works great but they get chewed up pretty quick, any paint or sign shop supply store will have them. and i've never seen a vinyl stripe under the clearcoat, i'd resort to heat before oven cleaner....

Definatly dont use oven cleaner. Ive peeled clearcoat and paint off of wheels with it.

hmm well i prolly should of waited to see what u guys said but i used oven cleaner on the stripe for 45 minutes on a small section and all it did was fade it. where can i buy one of these pinstripe erasers?
