Default speed density engine to mass air?

ok i am looking at a engine that came from a 1988 mustang lx. i have a 1991 lx hatch and wondering if it would be a simple hook up or i would have to convert the engine to mass air or what. i am confused on this and any help would be greatful. thanks guys,

An 88 should be mass air, unless its be converted over, or were the early 88not MAF yet?

acutally technically mass air started in 88 for the california cars, but everything else was speed density, than everythin from 89 and up was maf

just wondering what would need to be done if i bought a 1988 engine and put it in my 1991. what would need to be done to make it run since the engine is speed density and my car is mass air.

its a somewhat expensive and not too difficult switch. if i were i would just go carb or find a diff motor

all you need to do is swap the lower intake manifold ONLY IF THE SENSORS ARE DIFFERENT
other than that, the block, accesories, and heads are exactly the same... use all your stock electronics

Should be a direct swap. I'm pretty sure all the sensors are in the same locations. Just hook all the sensors back up and your ready to run.
