Default Tapping oil pan...then oh sh*t

Well I was tapping my oil pan for my vortech oil drain fitting. I was opening the hole with a 3/8 Punch and I got it to a point then it would not go anymore, I would hammer it but it would not move. DOH I realized that I was hitting the crank. I checked the crank to see if it looked like I damaged it but it did not look like anything was wrong with it. Do you guys think I could have damaged it? I would think it would be too strong for a hammer to damage??

I doubt you did any damage to the crank. You might have nicked it a little bit but thats probably about it.

you should have pulled the pan and just used a -8 fitting and line.

as far as the crank goes, more then likely ok but not a great thing to do to it

exactly where did you hit it, on one of the counterweights? there are definately some spots that are worse to hit, like wedging the punch between 2 rods

Yeah I followed the instructions exactly... I used a brass punch so I think it will be fine. It did not go between the rods or anything.
