Default New Fuel Pump installed. Heat Issue now.

I installed a new fuel pump on sunday and now my car is running a lot hotter than is used too. The temp guage used to always be at the "L" in normal. Now the temp guage is running on the "N".

Could installing the new fuel pump have anything to do with my car running hot or it is just a coincidence?

Thanks.

I guess I should install a fuel pressure regulator asap then.

+1 running lean will cause you combustion chambers to heat up more

whoa whoa whoa. before you get ahead of yourself and start ordering parts that you already have, check the basics. go check your coolant level, if its low look for leaks. if its low, with no obvious leaks, check your tailpipes for white smoke while running, and check the oil. make sure its oil and not antifreeze and oil.

your stock gauge is the coolant temperature in the block, near the intake. cylinder temps would have to be EXTREMELY high for your gauge to be affected.

I checked all my fluids and none of them are low. I looked for any leaks and didnt see any.

could be the 19lb high output injectors you have are special, never heard of them

see what your fuel pressure is at now at idle,

autozone has the guage like $35 youll need it. it can be at 20psi right now and should be near 40. the maf can be dirty from air filter oil contamination causing a lean condition etc

Pump size is not a factor in fuel pressure post regulator...changing pump size will not change what the injectors see...the regulator does. The regulator PSI output won't change wether the pump is the factory 88lb or a 255 lb upgrade. You also can't judge temps off a dummy guage like the factory unit...that is little more than a ford joke, hell mine used to go up a full line when the lights came on...joke. You can't verify if the car is running hot untill you have a real gauge in there, and I can say without reservation that your pump change will not affect running temp.
