The cover has dowels, no need for the extra hassle to line it up...it will only go on one way.

for someone that has never done it, expect a good 2-3hr job here, with the right tools. the water pump pulley is very hard to keep from moving while you try to unscrew the fan & clutch. i highly recommend going to your ford dealer with the part numbers listed above and buying those tools. they will come in handy MANY times.

EDIT: Those part numbers are Autozone numbers, not Ford.

i just did this like 3 days ago.my timing chain cover rusted out and started leaking anti-freeze. lets see if i can remember what you need. most bolts are 11 12 13 14 and 16 andan 18 somewhere and some of those are going to be deep sockets. its pretty simple stuff. remove and replace. so far no water leaks. did have an oil leak but found out i left a bolt loose. but fixed it and runs like a peach agian. you shouldnt have any problems. this was actually my first time working on something like that. good luck.

again, im someone who just replaced the timing cover and water pump gaskets on my car. but i didnt have to remove the water pump pulley? oh and after you drain the coolant and start working on taking the bolts out and you would like a little more room, take the radiator out. its extremly simple. to bolts on the top where those two brakets are and then pull up. at least thats how mine came out.

ya i have heard that RTV isnt really needed, its a safe bet to use it anyway but i have also heard to use High Tach Gasket sealer. havent tried it, but adder recamended it so its gotta be perfect!

oh and it took me about 6 hours to do the gaskets, but me and my buddy were working really slow lol.

let us know how it goes!
