yes if you hold 150 MPH long enough the bearings will seize, but with the right fluid and fluid level it would take about hour of sustained 150mph driving....

and anyone that drives that fast doesn't deserve a liscence... o and zero when i make my 1500 miles trip next weekend i'm going to run about 100-110 the whole way that should be about equivatent to 150 for an hour, lets see if my **** breaks.... i'll even hold my car at however fast it'll go for 30 min. or untill i need gas i'll video tape it so you believe me
My bearings never seized, and if you wanna get technical not ALL of my 18 trannies were beyond repair. But the hardparts it needed cost more than another complete trans. Or the cases were shot. Either way its cheaper to get another one.

And going 100-110 is nothing like going 150, when heat is concerned. How many Rpm's are you spinning at 100? how many are you spinning at 150? (if you can even get going that fast) At this point its not even the trans thats causing the fluid to heat up. Its the heat radiating from the ENGINE. How much hotter does your car run at 150 than 100? Not to mention you have 2 huge exhaust tubes on both sides of the trans. Because the case of the T-5 is aluminum is conducts heat VERY rapidly. But the trans also produces its own heat. Ive gotten my trannies hot enough that the shifter handle was so hot, I actually got a little burn from it.

PS: 94GT, I wouldnt recommend going that fast in this ****ty weather. Tires are cold, they wont grip nearly as well, not to mention the residue left over from salt, etc. could cause you to slide unpredictably. 100-110 is cool 150 Id say be careful. Even though youre an @sshole Id hate for you to get hurt

well ya see he has 2 maverics one is a blower car running mid to low 10's the other is a nitrious carrunning low 11's. when i say a nitrious car i mean he started his tunning with a 250 shot, and is currently running the biggest jet he has (500 shot)

and from what i understand pro's t-5 is just fine, mine obviously takes a beating and it's fine as well

yea... heres 3 examples of stock t5s being "junk"

pro50sc... runs low 12s on a stock tranny
94gtcoupe, his tranny teacher runs low 10s i belive(maybe low 11s, hell chime in later and clear that up), on a stock t5

the power doesnt really kill them, its ppl that think they can drive but cant...

notice i said my 1500 mile trip, i doubt they have salt on the roads in florida, and at 100 i'm hardly spinning the motor, but for test purposes i would run in 4th so the rpmsare closer to that of 150 mph... and yes i can hit 150 the soul reason i haven't is i don't see the need t drive that fast, i'm not one for putting others lifes in danger, if i was the only car in a 20 miles radious and there was no chance of hurting anyone else...then sure i would do it...

and goin 100 for 1500 miles would produce the same amount of heat as 150 for only a few miles.... and the only thing that SHOULD fail in a high speed situation on a properly built or workingT-5 would be gearings, unless theT-5 is a non WC

Its cool, I know they can handle 1/4 mile runs just fine. Just so you know, thats NOT how I trashed any of my trannies. ALL of em failed at over double the posted speed limit on the freeway. Every single T-5 I blew failed at those conditions, not during a shift or drag racing.
-P.
what happeneds when they fail at that speed, do you just get a running engine with no transfer to the wheels? i hope there isnt any violent jerk that occurs cause at those speeds you're toast
Some would feel like it popped out of gear, on one of em I even lost the shift pattern. Then on another, there was a loud pop, I coasted till about 90 then you could hear the broken parts inside rattleing around, then it locked up at around 70. I wore some nice flat spots on that one.

I still dont think that itll produce as much heat unless youre in 4th the whole time.
And dude, I NEVER go that fast with other people around or even with other people in my car. I made those runs in the middle of the night, right around where Im at there isnt that much traffic after 1-2 am. At 3am the freeways are basically deserted, other than your occasional semi (slingshot effect is crazy off of of them things). I make it a point not to recklessly endanger other people. Even on the open stretches of road between groups when I occasionaly hit 120/130, I ALWAYS slow back down to around 80 when passing.
-P.
PS: How are you gonna check for any internal wear or damage when you get to or back from where youre going?

the body shop that had my car desided to beat the fuc* out of my car and grind the 2nd syncro to hell, so it needs a rebuilt anyway, so i'll open it..... plus the fluid in it had about 100 miles on it.... i could just change it again and look for metal in it
