Need Some HELP on boost
I need some HELP…
I have a 306 with a 10.5 compression; it also has a E cam from ford racing, GT-40 intake and cast iron GT-40 heads with stock rockers… I am planning to install a supercharger to my car, But people are telling me that I am not going to be able to boost a lot because of the 10.5 compression… I am running 91 octane gas…If anybody know how much boost am I going to be able to run, and be safe please let me know…thanks…

You could go a bit higher, but I wouldn't risk it in your situation. I'm going to have to say 6 - 8 PSI as well. More info would be helpful too though. stock block or aftermarket? Forged or hyper? etc...

a wet nitrous kit would be better suited, less expensive and less risky in this case.... jmo though ideally 9:1 compression for 10-12 lbs boost.... getting a 5lbs blower just doesn't seemworth itin my mind

ORIGINAL: Chitown racer
Im just curious, how do you know you have 10.5 to 1 compression for sure? Some piston manufacturers post inflated compression numbers.

RE: Need Some HELP on boost
Because the owner that sold the car put the motor together and he told me that It had 10 to 1 compression …I also know that when I put 87 octane on the car and I gun it the car starts to ping around 4000 rpm’s and when I put the 91 octane it dose not do that… the timing on the car is stock…
