HELP!!! Oil Leak!!!!
I have a 95 mustang GT. It is all stock except a full exhaust system. I have been noticing a small leak on my garage floor about 2 weeks ago. Well i had scheduled an apt. with a local Ford dealer ship to change my transmission fluid, and flush. While they did that they said u have an oil leak and charged me 20 dollars HA HA! I knew i had an oil leak but whatever. They said we can fix it if you want, all it is a the gasket in side the oil pan, I said ok how much will it cost me... They said oh around 200. I about flipped. Should i pay them to do it, or is there some way that i can rig it my self, like caulk it or anything, They said the reason it cost so much is beacuse they have to lift the engine up a lil bit to get to the oil pan.. Let me konw what you all think i should do... And if i were to try do this by my self what would i need and would it be possible? Let me know thanks

RE: HELP!!! Oil Leak!!!!
if you dont know what youre really doing, just let them do it. and you cant caulk it. it wont work. my friend and i tried that on his.......had to take the engine out, put it on an engine stand, flip it, take it off, put new gasket on, put the engine back in, BUT, NOT BEFORE TAKIN TRANNY OUT, CUZ they wouldnt mesh together correctly. so, if you know what youre doing, its about a day long job, maybe longer, depending on how comfortable you are with tools and what not. itd be ALOT cheaper doin it yourself, but, like i said, if you dont really know what youre doing, let them do it. less of a headache for you

Alright, i am not to familiar with all of that, i am only 15 but my dad knows a little but not enough to take all of it apart like that, i will just have a dealer do it then.. Do you think it would be cheaper like taking it to a dodge dealer instead of a ford?

RE: HELP!!! Oil Leak!!!!
Dont take it to a dealership their all expensive, take it to a repair shop if you dont wanna do it. And its not that hard, you dont have to remove the engine replacing it is only a 2.5 hour book labor job.
