so far every diagram I've found basically shows just a power wire to the fuel pump, and a ground coming off of the pump. Will the pump run with those basics or is there more involved? I'm not even talking factory function, just power source to it, and a ground will the fuel pump function?

2 are for the pump, 2 are for the fuel level sender.

Which wire coming from the pump can I tie into to hardwire it to see if the pump is still working?

I think that the Pink one is power for the pump, & one of the Blacks is ground for the pump. But there are 2 blacks. If all you do is cut the pink one and provide power to it, it will work. Just dont cut a black.

Evil is right. The pink/blue striped wire is the power for the fuel pump. I can't remember if the black/ground side is actually a black wire. For some reason I'm thinking a light green/green stripe but I can't confirm that while I'm at work. My wiring diagrams are at home.
