Default general engine question

This question isn't solely about 5.0's per se'but this is where i always post and get good feedback.

I wonder if anyone can satisfy my quriosity on this one?I heard a while back that it was "bad" for an engine to sit unessaseraly idiling for extended periods of time. Any one else ever heard of this or is it simply a myth?[&:]

Thanks for any help

i know its bad for diesels, i dont know why though. all i know is that rigs use some kind of rev holder to keep it up around 1300rpm when they are sleeping.

it could be that the engine isnt moving the oil around enough and getting proper lubrication, if thats the case then the diesel guys probably keep em at a "high" rpm (its all relative) to keep the turbo from seizing
