347 stroker Engine Oil

What's the consensus on the type/weight of oil to run in a 347 stroker motor?

Both winter and summer. I live in Philly, so our winters are cold.

just because your carnk moves up and down a little more, dont meen the oil is special, 10w30 energy conservice is your best choice, 5 w30 too thin, 10w40 too thick for winter

I thought I heard not to go with a synthetic at first and also to use something with zinc in it. I'm pretty sure the builder mentioned something about a race oil of some sort.

use a petrolium based oil(non syn) for the first couple thousand miles of a breakin of a new motor. then switch to synthetic if u wish.

I heard to stay away from the synthetics for a bit as well.

ya i waited a while.. bout 8-10thousand miles.. i now run mobil 1 high performance 10w30 syn along with a mobil 1 high performance oil filter.. it holds a quart alone..
