Practically nothing if it's a you-pull-it place. I got my GT40 upper for 20 bucks. I think cylinder heads were like 45 a piece.

^thats it?????so gt40 heads, and upper/lower intakes are a direct swap? are they a big improvement over stock when a bigger throttle body and cam is added? how much power is added.

over stock..IMO i would think the intake-10hp maybe, its basically a cobra, and the heads, depending what that are, which i think the P or Y's maybe like 20 hp?, i dont really know for sure tho. Alliminun gt-40 turbo swirls are rated at like 40 hp

All depends on where you get it from and how knowledgeable they are about the parts value. The hp gain will depend on what's done to the car. The stock intake is a pretty big bottleneck on the engine, as is the heads. For example, my friend has the aluminum gt40x heads, full exhaust, b303 cam, and a 75shot, but he's still using the stock intake. I raced him two times and walked away from him both times. I am running self ported oe heads, x303 cam, full exhaust, and the explorer intake running 20degrees timing.both times he sprayed. If he had changed the inake he would haveanihalated me.Basically what i'm getting at is, don't expect a huge gain on a stock engine, however it will definetly be noticable.

what you need to look for are the hash marks on the side of the heads

3 hash marks are gt40's casting # F3ZZ and will say "GT" they are thre same heads on a '93 cobra, and found on some early explorers and mountaineers

4 hash marks are gt40p and say "GTP" they are on most of them, and require a different header from the plug angle , although i have heard you can modify the header a bit to fit.

an explorer intake is a gt40 based intake, the runners are the same, the lower is the same, the upper will need a slight mod, but i forget what it is, something w/ the temp sending unit if i remember right, maybe plugging the existing, and tapping it elsewhere ? but i could be wrong. there is a minor mod to be made.

w/ no other port work, i don't think you'd pick up 20 hp total on the heads and intake alone.

typically gt40 heads sell for $300
gt40 p heads sell for about $200-$250
explorer intakes like $50 for the upper , and about $150 for the lower since it can be used for any of the 3 possibilities
