Default crappy gasket

ok im really pissed off. it took me 2 hours to install this new water pump i bought from autozone. i noticed that the gasket isnt true aligned with all the bolt holes, so in some places it ripples and in some places it stretches, i bolted it down anyway thinking that the pressure from the bolts would flatten it out. well after i installed EVERYTHING and started to pour water in the radiator i heard dripping, it came from under the water pump, part of the gasket was actually sticking out from the pump!! what the ****!!! i am so pissed right now i have to take everything apart and try to make this **** work, ahhh ****..

I've heard of people doing just that in a pinch and it held up fine.

I use a gasket when I can, since it makes less mess to clean up if you have to go in again. But, I've used RTV many a time when I don't have a gasket handy.
