Default Brake problem

Hey this is a little off topic but I thougt I would ask, cause I need some help with this. My girlfriend has a 91 buick skylark, and the brake light is on for some reason. It just started today and she has noticed in the last week her brake pedal was much softer to push down and it was taking longer to stop. I just recently put new pads and rotors on it, maybe 3 weeks ago and noticed no problems with the brake line or bleeder valve atleast at the point of the brake system. I checked the brake fluid yesterday and it was fine so im kinda confused about the brake light thing. If anyone knows whats wrong or can help in any way i would really appreciate it. thanks.

Could be a leak in the system or a faulty master cylinder. That will trip the brake light and cause a soft pedal.

did you bleed the brakes? did the master cyl run dry while bleeding them?..check for a vaccum leak on the booster as well.....if all check out you may have a seal leaking in the master cyl...check and replace before driving
