Holley Blue Fuel Pump Questi
I'm now running a Holley Blue in-line pump instead of my stock in-tank pump. When I turn the ignition on the pump starts running but doesn't stop. My dad says he thinks it's supposed to stop when it fills the carb , is something wrong? We have already let it run a while and got all the air out of the lines. I just wasn't sure if the pump is supposed to run constantly or not. I don't think it's a wiring issue because we used the wires that were ran to the old fuel pump.

Well i wasn't sure, Because when i used to turn the ignition on the intank pump would run for 2-3 seconds and stop. Now the Holley Blue stays on. I just turned the ignition on,not the engine. Understand what I mean? I know they run all the time when the engine is running , I just didn't know if it was supposed to cut off if only the ignition was on.

What year car is your Mustang? If it is hooked up to the original wiring and fuel pump relay, the computer originaly turned the pump on for a few seconds and then turned it off if you didn't start your car,but if you don't have the computer hooked up,I don't know how the fuel pump relay is getting powered up.Some aftermarket pumps shut off after they make a certain amout of pressure, the Holley pump will run as long as it has power to it.

Well , I just realized the reason it stays on actually , when we took the computer off we ran a hot wire back to the pump to make it run. Duh ! Sorry I forgot that we had to do that . I guess it wont hurt anything as long as I turn the car on all the way and not leave the ignition on long before starting the engine. Will that be ok or does anything happen with the pressure or anything bad like that?

Exactly.Alot of times I feel stupid because I have to ask questions that seem common sense topeople who have been doing this a long time. But I would rather ask and then look like a fool , then blow my car up,or half a$$ do something instead of do it right you know?I was just concerned thatit might not be good for the fuel pump to run constantly until I turn the engine on. It would seem to me there might be a problem with the pressure building up . We plugged the end of the gas line to see if itcuts itself off after the pressure built but it never cut off.
