they make more hp and torque at a lower rpm. so if you have steep gears you wont stay at the optimum rpm.youll get to redline to fast.you actually want to put a strain on the motor to make it work.think of it like this, if you had a 600ft.lb at 3500 rpm big block you wouldnt put 4.10 gears in it .especially with a light car.i feel my turbo pull the car harder when im in 4th gear at 30mph then stomp on it then i do in 2nd gear at 20 mph. the torque makes the rpms come up to quick

not yet, but the way the roots works makes it extremely inefficient when compared to the other superchargers that are available...
