Default 3.73 or 3.55

Im looking into gears. So should i go for 3.73 or 3.55. Ive got an 89 gt, 5-speed. Does anyone know about how much it would cost too?

i would go 3.55 for manual and 3.73 for autos. just my opinion tho, and maybe around $500. depends on your area.

3.73s for manual 4.10's for auto. gears arent too expensive, if you install them yourself youll save about $100 bucks though. dont ever buy used gears btw. if you dont put them back in the pattern they were in they will whine like high hell.

i would go with a good brand name, ibought some 3.90 motive gears and they whine alittle on acceleration

i have a 91 gt with a 5 speed...about 3 years ago i got 3.73 gears and of course it was better than stocks lil 3.08, but my car still didnt have the takeoff i still wanted. Now I am looking into either 4.10s or 4.30s. Make sure you research the gears, and i would either take them to ford to have them install them, or another equally qualified technician. Just make sure you are happy with them. I would get a friend that has 373 and another with 355 and ask to drive their car (you never know it might happen) and then use your own judgement.
