Default Test Driving '91 Convertable

Tomorrow I will be test driving a 1991 Convertable 5.0 with 140k on the clock. I was wondering what things I should look for when I'm driving it and any common problems with these cars that I should be aware of. Hmm, let's see... it doesn't seem to be leaking anything, it's a manual, the paint is in really good condition, in my opinion, for a '91, so I'm thinking that it might've been repainted, and I'm pretty sure the top is new, so that's suspicious. The owner says he's taken very good care of it though. That's about all the information I have on it right now, so any help would be appreciated.

get on it with the windows down, smell for oil and look out the rearview for smoke

check under it for rust, especially near the hatch/floors/frame

see if the torque boxes have been banged up or replaced before

ask for service records and as always carfax it if u thinkin about buyin it

Alright I just have one question about that, what are torque boxes and where are they located at? I've never heard of them before, and if you have a picture outlining them, that would be helpful. Thanks.

this is very simple thing to do ....dont wait till u buy it to be disappointed that u got a *****.....better to know up front
