Mystery noise...help!
running around doing errands this morning in my car and after she was fully warmed up I was gettting this odd noise that I couldnt figure out...like a high pitched whine/squeal from the right front (im pretty sure)...dont think it was in the driveline, seemed like from the rotating assembly or maybe even under the dash.... it wasnt the blower motor...or the brakes...what the heck? wheel bearing? puzzled...help!

RE: Mystery noise...help!
Sort of sounds like the alternator, if you can get access to a belt tension gauge, see what your belt tension is at, as that can make a whine/squeal. If you want to rule out the engine itself do this; after it is fully warmed up, quick take the belt off then run it shortly to see if it's an accessory making the noise. Right front could be either the alternator or smog pump. Good Luck!

only when moving...above 35 or soo...funny thing is that when it cooled down a bit (in walgreens for about 10 minutes) it didnt do it anymore...my initial thought was a wheel bearing, but very high pitched, not like the dull roar im used to when a bearing goes...

some brake pads are built with a little tang on them that when the pad wears down enought, it starts to touch the rotor and make a screeching noise to let you know you need to change the pads. check the front pads and see whether this is your noise maker.
