Default spacer on intake???

ok guys, i'm picking up a trickflow TH manifold tomorrow for an 87gt, and i was wondering about the plenum spacer. they have ones that are 3/8in and then 1in thick. are the spacers really worth the money, and also, will the TH w/ spacer fit under a stock hood???

thanks,
jeff

I'm not sure about your intake, but I used a 1" spacer on my last motor with a holley systemax intake, and like, the stock hood would shut and latch all the way, but the intake was touching the hood. Probably would have warped the hood from heat had I tried to use it that way. If you looked at the hood, you could clearly see the raise where the intake was touching. I would guess the trickflow intake is approx the same size as the systemax as far as outer dimensions, so it would probably have the same issue. a 1" Mach 1 Hood fixed the problem for me.
