How do you guys wth otherwise stock cars get 'em to hook with 3.73's? I can't nail down with 2.73's.

In my short time with a 5.0 I'd recommend building suspension and chassy long before more power or gear. Use what ya got.

$.02

if you just ease into it you shouldnt have a problem. and it helps to have some good tires.

even if u bump it high enough to require prem its gonna save u money because the motor will be more efficient and it will off set the cost nut i got mine at 12 and i can run 87 still without detonation im gonna bump it up even higher soon but normally its around 14 that requires the prem

Hard to "ease" in to 3rd gear when you're trying to haul the mail. I do have some junk tires though...

Point remains that chassy and suspension will make the entire car, and it's existing equipment, work better. That's the direction I've chosen with mine and I hope it pans out.

My car has literally gone sideways about a foot in 3rd at around 60. I totally agree that in my case the tires are a huge problem, but I'm still starting at the bottom and going up. Before DR's I gotta do battle boxes, torque arms, etc, etc...

So, my proposed list of cheap mods:
Better brakes ($150, summt cross drilled rotors, some ceramic pads, clean and lube the rear)
Springs ($200, I like my FRPPs, choose what you like)
Subs ($120 + welding, hard to beat Maximum Motorsports for the price)
Battle Boxes ($100 + welding, quality set)
Torque arms ($200, entry level, much better than OE set)
Gears ($300 cheap Jegs ($450 for richmond) gears w/master kit + install: or requires some skill)

All of those are, more or less, one or two pay check type of deals for most guys except the gears...
