getting rid of smog pump

RE: getting rid of smog pump
+1 Thats the only reason why I removed mine, plus I didnt feel like dealing with it when the time comes to swap headers. If you dont care what your motor bay looks like, than just keep it. Its really not worth it to remove, your not gaining anything.Maybe 1hp!

Its a HUGE PITA! I dont know how people do it without air tools because I was using a cut off wheel and it still took my like an hour to get that piece of sh*t off. I just cut it in like 4 pieces... pulled it out. Capped the back of the heads and capped it at the h pipe.

i have the tranny out changing the clutches, flywheel, and rear main seal....i can see where i need to plug it...but looks like i would need some type of plate like on the passenger side head....

plate? no... Just two bolts. One for each side. And than I got a rubber cap to plug the h pipe... and put a small hose clamp on top of it to keep it in place. Worked perfect.
