its fairly cheap, but all the freeze plugs need to be replaced, so do the cam bearings

that's only the beginning, all the passages(oil, water) need cleaned and all threads need cleaned up as well
as for cost between 55-85.00

General block machining (overbore, this and that), cleaning, cam bearings/installation, plugs, is usually around $400.

A tanked block pretty much looks like new when you get it back in terms of clean.

not quite, I have seen some with crap still on them....this is why a GOOD machine shop will do 2-3 other type cleanings on the block

Totally possible my machine shop is above average. I write they check, they give me good work. The bill says "block cleaning" somewhere on there and they have a dip tank... Just assumed the two went together.

It's exactly the type of business arrangement that I like.
