I just turned 18, so i'm not sure if mine has dropped yet, but I've got liability and mine is like 70 bucks a month.

For everybody that said they only have liability I have some suggestions. Get a quote from your provider to add on comprehensive, this will cover fire, theft, VANDALISM, act of God, weather, etc. Comprehensive is only a few dollars more per month and worth every penny. While you're at it get a quote on uninsured motorist coverage as well. If you add those two coverages you're basically covered for any situation except if you cause an accident.
yeh, but i decided not to get comp b/c the value of the car is like 0 dollars where i live on a trade in...so its not even close to worth it. on edmunds, they value a 87 gt at $389 for trade-in.

you cant go by that the insurance will pay off more than you think....

had a buddy with a 91 supra and the value on that car trade in was800 but they gave him 5400 when he totaled it out...

trust me you will want it.. i have full coverage on everything i own...

let the insurance pay off buy it back from the insurance company and put engine and trans in another shell without spending money out of your pocket... without it you will have to buy a new shell yourself...

But comprehensive will cover glass and other stuff that you can get money for thats not based on trade in value.
I had a windshield replaced in my old truck free of charge and it didnt matter that the truck was older with higher mileage.

Another suggestion: Keep every single receipt for anything related to your car because they won't pay for mods without receipts. Also, Speaker boxes that are not bolted down will not be covered by insurance. Make sure you put at least one bolt in so that you can claim it if you get ripped off. Otherwise you'd have to claim it on your homeowners policy.

If you total your car in a wreck under your collision coverage you will get less money than if it is totaled under comprehensive. I know it's stupid, but it's true. I live in Corpus Christi, TX and a lot of people take their cars that they are tired of and park them on the beach at low tide. They come back 12 hours later and they have a total on their comprehensive policy. It's horrible that people do it, but the insurance company still has to pay.
