Since its been really cold out, I bet the cable is just stuck. I work at a Ford dealership and earlier this week I did a "warranty" job on an Escape..The gas pedal was REAL stiff and the throttle would stick. Replaced the cable and TB and its good as new. If you still have it under warranty go in and see if they will replace it for you. If not, try to thaw it out.
