long tubes rubbing steering shaft
anyone with long tubes have this problem?i have MAC long tubes and its only really in first and sometimes second gear that the header rubbs a little on the shaft, and when it does i can really feel it through the steering wheel. im trying to keep an eye on it so that the shaft doesnt get weak, which its really only rubbing enough to make a little ring around the shaft and a little wear mark on the header. anyone know of a fix for this? exspecially one that doesnt include removing the header?i found this.. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...1&comp=LRSbut would that even do what i need?i prolly could use new motor mounts, which im sure will help but any recamendations on which mounts to get? (solid, poly., OEM?)

RE: long tubes rubbing steering shaft
I had FRPP shorty's on my 87 hatch with a 351 W swap and new motor mounts didn't do anything so i struggled with the rubbing for like a month after that the shaft was worn out and it didn't rub anymore. Also i never replaced the shaft.Just let it wear out It won't break.

you would be suprised what a worn out set of motor mounts would do...i fought and fought installing my CAI because of the room i had between the strut tower. i installed solid motor mounts when i did my long tubes and freed up a couple inches...gave me plenty of room for my CAI and LT's
