Default Started my car!!!

We started the car tonight finally! At first I turned the key and nothing happened at all and i was likehere we go again. But after thinking for a few seconds we realized that we hadn't finished wiring in the neutral safety switch. So we finished it and I turned the key and it started . Not only did it start but it runs and idles perfectly . We are going to get the timing perfect tomorrow morning but it is pretty much were it should be. As soon as we get the throttle and kickdown linkages hooked up we are ready to roll! The only thing that sucks is that none of my in dash guages work except the amp guage. i wish i knew how to wire the dash harness back to were it all goes. i'l have to get a wiring diagram out tomorrow and see what i can do.

We got the linkages done today and I took her for a little spin. It was great! I didn't push it very hard because we were making sure everything was ok. Well It died on me once when i slowed down to a stop and then gave it alittle gas. Timing maybe? We haven't set the timing perfect yet , well actually it ran so good at first that we didn't do anythnig to the timing at all.it was just kind of a test run. Anyways it also felt wierd shifting but it might just be in my head. I'm used to the auto overdrive tranny from the 4cyl , and now I have a 3 speed auto with a shift kit. the only major problem was a leak in the water railsthat run beside the left valve cover. there is a little place on the side where a small water line cam out . Well we were unable to plug it good and when it got hot the water was spraying out everywhere. We are going to weld it shut Monday probably or find a better way to plug it. But it ran great other than the water leak and it dying that one time. Hopefully the bugs will be worked out next week. I wish it had exhaust so i could here when the engine sounded like. It is so loud I cant tell if it is making any funny sounds at all. I also wish i could see how fast it is but the engine is so loud it sounded like it was going to explode when I was just driving normally , I was to scared to give it any gas . I just want to make sure everything is working right and the timing is good before I see what it has. Exhaust is #1 on the list right now.

Well the Amp gauge works and the speedo works . The speedo looks like it'sright too ,thank God. We got a guy that builds stangs coming to check out the wiring next week sometime. Hopefully I can get the cash together to get heads and get it painted soon. I think i'm going to put the stock hood back on for a while because this ram-air one has big gaps on each side. It is like 1/2 inch to short on the sides , I can stick my finger between the fender and hood. So that sucks. Anyways I am still happy

I was happy that the motor turned over , getting to drive it as just an extra hahaha. We are going to get the exhaust put on Wednesday morning , in the mean time we have to find someone who can get the dash wiring harness hooked up to everything. We don't have Water Temp , Tach , Oil Pressure Guages working . I don't know about the gas guage , it does read that the tank has alittle under 1/4 tank but I think there is more gas in it than that , so it might not be working either. I think it probably isn't working ither because it probably comes in through the same harness as the rest of the guages.

yes actually i thought about getting that kit that replaces the two center air vents with a 3 pod guage setup. I had planned on it anyways but it just sucks that my in dash ones wont work. I think I will just put the guage pod in anyways and then fix the in dash ones later. But I haven't seen a fuel level guage before. Guess I'll have to look around. As for the exhaust , when i had my 4 cyl I hade the exhaust place put a dual exhaust setup with these cheaper turbo mufflers. I want to get some flowmasters or something comparable but right now i am broke . So basically we are going to have my uncle cut the "Y" off from when it was on the 4 banger and run pipes back to the mufflers for now. Un about 2-3 weeks I'll get the real deal . I wish i had the cash right now but I am flat broke.
