You're going to get s**tty gas milage. Why is it that people buy RWD V8's then ask about gas milage? If that's a concern of yours, you SHOULD NOT have bought the car.
Take it to the track and find out.

302 bored .030 over is a 306. 4 cid. Perhaps that's what he meant?
It might be time to pick a new screen name. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0">
Even .040 over isn't too much.
Some RWD sports cars get good mileage. Ido believe my buddy used to get near 30mpg cruising on the freeway in his C5 (at the speed limit anyway)

0.40 over isn't going to get you up to 5.4. I think a 5.4 is a 331 stroke... In which case your block would be bored AND stroked. I'm not sure if its possible to bore a 5.0 to a 5.4 without touching the crank. You should talk to the guy who sold you the car. Right now I run a 347 which is close to a 5.7 and I get about 18-20mpg high way which I find to be very close to my liking for all the work I've done. As far as problems, You might want to do some fueling system upgrades, and a radiator. Fluidine makes a very good dual 1" core one. and for fueling, I think a new pump, some injectors, rails, throttle body, and mass air flow should do it. I'm not sure if you're big on spending but I've changed just about everything and tuned it to a perfect 14.7:1 air:fuel and thats how I'm making this milage. Also changing those parts will free up some horsepower you might very well be choking off if the guy has stock fueling parts on the motor. Wow I forgot to ask, is it still fuel injected? Heh
