Clutch hard to push in
Hello all i just got a 86 mustang and the guy i bought it from said he put on a adjustable clutch cable and a bunch of other stuff. Well i was tryin to figure out why the clutch is so hard to push in with the seat out so i fit under the dash. I can see a blue aluminum piece above the gas pedal when i push in the clutch it seem to move smooth but the cable is against the piece coming through the firewall. Is the adjustment to get more leverage on that piece or on the other side by the clutch? Sorry new to mustangs but gonna try thanks

RE: Clutch hard to push in
your car more than likely has a king cobra clutch... its very common.. and out stangs are know for having heavy clutches.... its kinda just the way it is
try to find someone who has owned a fox and ask them if they think the pedal is stiff... thats really your best way to find out if you have a problem

RE: Clutch hard to push in
Ok cool i did some searches and i rad where someone said that his was in one of three holes and the farther the hole was away from teh firewall it was easier to push in so i was just wondering. If there is a adjustment i am missing or is it just something i need to get used to. Have owned chevys all my life but was tryin to find a toy both me and the wife would enjoy and build.

RE: Clutch hard to push in
I asked the guy I bought my car from about the cobra clutch also, I guess I thought it was going to be horrible, then I found out it was not bad at all. I had the steeda clutch adjuster too, mines not in yet, how will the adjuster help me out?

RE: Clutch hard to push in
most of the chevys i have owned were all old.The car seems to shift ok just may not be used to it may be all it is. I found what i believe to be a good deal for this mustang and after lookin on these forums for a couple of weeks decided to go ahead and get the car. Im sure ill have a lot of questions on here for ya'll. He did alot to the car it has subframe connectors, i believe upper and lower control arms 3 inch cowl hood, aftermarket spoiler, aluminum driveshaft and a list of other stuff

RE: Clutch hard to push in
i have a fox with the kc clutch and its not hard at all, u must have a stage 1 or 2 race clutch, or u have a dual force race clutch. they are real hard to push in, and can hold a lot of power.
