Default 5.0 HO transmissions

Hey all, first post.
I live in the United Kingdom and have just bought a 1988 5.0 HO engine. No transmission and i am wondering what transmissions fit. Here in the uk AOD and and the gearboxes that came after are quite rare and are hard to find. So what else fits? Does the C3 fit? could it take the power? In europe The C3 gearbox progressed in to the A4LD. That is much more common. Would like to get an auto. Thanks for any help ypu can give.

I personally think you should just buck up and pay the international shipping charges on a built AOD from here in the states

Its not the cost of the transmission, cause the exchange rate is so good. But the uk goverment will put an extra 20/25% of the total price for customs and tax!!! GGGRRRRRRR
