Default Coolant flush/hopefully more heat...

I will do a coolant flush today and new thermostat. My heater is not making enough heat and I really think if I flushed the old coolant and put in new coolant and new thermostat, that would help solve my problem. I looked under the passenger side carpet and it already looked liked the heater core had leaked water into the car and had been replaced, so the heater core probably is not the problem. The coolant looks clean. I wonder if I could just get away with replacing the thermostat. I bought the car at 142.000 miles. Any suggestions?

that rad flush **** is bad for intake gaskets... the way i flush cars is with a hose, pull the return line off your radiator and let it hang underneath the car as to prevent water from gushing everywhere... pull off the radiator cap and put the gardening hose in there... turn the water on and start the car... you should see all that gunk coming out just keep flushing it thru until all the old coolant is out and the water is clear... i've been doing coolant flushes like this for years and have always had great results

hope this helps some

it's not bad for gaskets it doesn't eat at them....just using water doesn't loosen up scale to get rid of it...now using a pressurize cleaning system will

if your heats not working it sounds like you are low on coolany(leak) or there is something wrong with your heat controls

it also depends on what kind of heat you are used to , or are looking for .... i have owned a few fox mustangs ... my brother has also.... not one of them made any real hot run you out of the car heat . all you can do is make sure that you have the proper coolant level ... make sure the core isn't clogged , & controls are working.... also make sure the fan clutch is working properly ... if you have a frozen clutch on the fan its like having a direct drive fan , & that will keep it cool also.....putting a 180 therm is gonna make the heat cooler i can tell you that..
