Default Maf ?

ok, so this spring I'm doing a h/c/i swap and will be putting in some 24# injectors. My question is,will I have to get a new maf calibrated for 24# injectors or can I just use the stock 70mm meter since I will be having the car dyno tuned. I searched this topic and read alot of different replies, so I'm just trying to get thing's straight.

do the h/c/i and leave the 19# injectors installed until you get to the dyno shop, let them install the 24# injectors

OR install the 24#ers, and tow the car to the dyno shop

the dyno shop will be doing the install, so a new maf is not needed?

the dyno tuner will be able to tell you if you need a new maf. the only reason you should replace it is if your car begins to "peg" the maf... which simply means the car is drawing in more air than the MAF can read.

If this does happen, look into a larger ford maf, like a 80mm or 90mm lightning maf. They are the most accurate and will work the best!

SO, a new upgraded injectors don't always need a new caliberated MAF? I was under the impression the computer was programed for the certain size injector, or is that why the tune is nessesary?

that is something the tuner can address inside the computer... hence no need for a new maf, unless the intake flow of your car requires a bigger one

If you're NA, you might be O.K. with the 19's, but as stated earlier a tuner will be able to tell you what to do. They can burn you a new chip, if need be.

My car had an SC, with 30 lb. inj. and I was still fine with a 73 MM MAF. I could probably get away with that now and I have a 347 stroker. I did upgrade the MAF to a 90 though. I'd bet with heads, cam and inatke, you'll be better off with 24 lb. inj.
